Serial Box: Bookburners brings the television-like episode model of story pacing and delivery to the digital prose serial. Along the lines of X-Files, Buffy, and Supernatural, Bookburners is a sci-fi fantasy serial novel released in episodes, written by the authors Max Gladstone, Lindsay Smith, and Ellen Kushner, every week, via and app and an e-book, throughout its 16 episode season. Talks At Google welcomes these authors as they discuss their experience in collaborative writing and serialization.

Ellen Kushner

Ellen Kushner’s Riverside series begins with the cult classic Swordspoint, followed by the Locus Award winner and Nebula Award nominee The Privilege of the Sword; The Fall of the Kings, written with Delia Sherman; and Tremontaine. Her mythic fantasy novel Thomas the Rhymer won the World Fantasy Award and the Mythopoeic Award. She also co-edited Welcome to Bordertown with Holly Black.

Lindsey Smith

Lindsey Smith's love of Russian culture has taken her to Moscow, Saint Petersburg, and a reindeer festival in the middle of Siberia. She lives in Washington, DC, where she writes on foreign affairs. SEKRET is her first novel.

Max Gladstone

Max Gladstone is an American fantasy author. He is best known for his debut novel Three Parts Dead, which is part of the Craft Sequence, and his urban fantasy serial Bookburners; as well as the showrunner for Book Burners. He was nominated for a Lambda Literary Award a is two-time finalist for the John W. Campbell Award.
