Old Havana in the 21st Century

Talk: Old Havana in the 21st Century

As the official Historian of the City of Havana, Dr. Leal is in charge of the restoration and administration of Old Havana, a UNESCO world heritage site. Shortly after Google signed our first commercial agreement with Cuba, we premiered a virtual reality documentary, titled “Nuestro Martí” on the life of Cuba’s national hero, José Martí and launched the Cuban Arts & Culture platform. Dr. Leal discusses how Martí built bridges between the US and Cuba well before the two countries’ recent rapprochement and how his legacy has inspired his own work in preserving Cuba’s past to share with the world.
