Talk: More than a Woman: The Intersections of Gender, Race, and Sexual Orientation

In the words of the late essayist, Audre Lorde: “There is no thing as a single-issue struggle because we do not live single-issue lives.” Invisibilized in conversations on cis-gender issues, women identified people of color face unique challenges, living in a world where they experience both racism, sexism and transphobia all while working to achieve and perform at their highest level. In this conversation, we will discuss the barriers that women-identified people of color encounter and specifically address the role of gender identity, gender expression, and race at Google.

Linda Sarsour

Linda Sarsour (born 1980) is a Palestinian-American political activist, self-described as progressive, and former executive director of the Arab American Association of New York.

Kim Crenshaw

Kimberlé Crenshaw teaches Civil Rights and other courses in critical race studies and constitutional law. Her primary scholarly interests center around race and the law, and she was a founder and has been a leader in the intellectual movement called Critical Race Theory. She was elected Professor of the Year by the 1991 and 1994 graduating classes.

Ej Johnson

EJ Johnson is one of the stars of the show Rich Kids of Beverly Hills. He is the son of NBA Hall of Fame player Magic Johnson. His mother is Cookie Johnson. He has an adopted sister named Elisa as well as a half-brother named Andre.
