Talk: Gardens and Glass

Dale and Leslie Chihuly stop by the Googleplex for a conversation about the upcoming Seattle exhibition: Chihuly Garden and Glass. Joining the conversation is Michelle Bufano, the Chihuly Garden and Glass Executive Director. Dale will first discuss his career and inspirations for the exhibition. Following that, Leslie discusses community involvement and the Seattle culture scene. Marissa Mayer then moderates a Q&A with Dale, Leslie, and Michelle. Dale Chihuly

Dale Chihuly is an American glass sculptor, whose work has been featured in museums and botanic gardens throughout the world. He cofounded the Pilchuck Glass School near Stanwood, Washington, and he's widely created with reinvigorating the studio glass movement in the Pacific Northwest.

The Book

Dale Chihuly has long been fascinated by the colors and forms of nature. His work has become increasingly open, using forms that show a strong relationship to the architecture of natural shapes. Here, lush illustrations showcase Chihuly’s unique glass sculptures positioned among the plants, flowers, and landscapes of some of the world’s finest gardens and conservatories.
