To reach new audiences, the veterinary and education nonprofit Darwin Animal Doctors created a humane education graphic novel, "A Piggy's Tale: The Adventures of a Three-Legged Super-Pup," about the nonprofit founders' tripod dog. To their surprise, national and international attention on their humble mascot exploded, and his comic education curriculum has been taught in countries around the world in just two years after the inception of the project. Hear the heroic dog's story and learn the growing importance of humane education in changing the world.

Tod Emko

Tod Emko is a conservationist from New York City. He came to Galapagos for the first time in 2008, serving with an international marine conservation group. While working to protect the marine reserve, Tod fell in love with the islands and wanted to ensure the survival of its amazing and important animals.

A Piggy's Tale: The Healing Power of Animals

Injured as a puppy in Latin America, and taken to the US after his hurt leg was amputated, Piggy now seeks out others who suffer as he did, and he offers them healing compassion and inspiration. He visits hospitals and schools for special needs children, and after his visits, they decide that if he can overcome such adversity and become happy, so can they!
